Andrew will be discussing the importance of Positive Behavior Intervention, Sensory Integration, Cognitive Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy and Social Cognition and how it can help to enrich the educational experience of a child with autism.
Andrew Bailey is an experienced clinician and highly skilled educational consultant who began his career in special education in 1985 at a private special education school in Berkeley, CA. He has a solid understanding of neurodevelopmental impairments, with an emphasis on Autism Spectrum Disorders. In 2000 Mr. Bailey, along with William Henkel and Mary Beth Ludwig opened Anova Educational and Behavior Consultation. In 2003 Anova opened the first ACE school in Sonoma County and currently serves over 100 children with autism on three ACE School campuses. He has been working with children with ASD for 25 years and is currently the Director of Educational Services and the principal of the three ACE schools. He conceived the ACE school as a truly unique environment that would provide high quality academic instruction to children with Aspergers and autism using the best practices from Positive Behavior Interventions, Sensory Integration, Cognitive Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy and Social Cognition.

Ms. Andersen graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and worked as a Registered Nurse for 7 years before pursuing a Master's in Nursing degree from the University of Washington. She then worked in geriatrics/internal medicine at Group Health Cooperative before beginning private practice in 1999.
