Driving directionsDate March 20, 2010 Time 10 a.m. Description Sensory Friendly Film - Diary of a Wimpy Kid AMC Entertainment (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program.
In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden®” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned.
Tickets are $4-6 depending on location and can be purchased on the day of the event.

Jim Quigley, MS, BBEC, owner of Healthy Spaces, will talk about understanding how we can be exposed to certain pollutants inside our homes and other indoor environments and how to avoid those exposures. He will specifically address heavy metals, biological pollutants, synthetic chemicals and electromagnetic fields.
Jim Quigley is certified as a Building Biology Environmental Consultant by the International Institute of Building Biology and Ecology. He has 15 years experience in the medical and scientific publishing industry. Jim has training, sales, marketing, strategic development, and management skills. He has a Master of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Jim is also certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Lead Worker and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency as a Renovation, Repair and Painting Instructor. Currently, Jim is an adjunct professor at Arcadia University, Glenside, PA, teaching the "Issues in Community and Environmental Health" course to Physician Assistant and Masters of Public Health candidates. He is also an instructor with the Sustainable Building Advisors certification program at Bucks County Community College.

It begins with an overview of the Pyramid Approach to Education to explore the key components of designing effective educational environments. Maude Le Roux is an accomplished occupational therapist with great affinity for learning and understanding the human brain. She was born and raised in South Africa, and graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town in 1984. Maude married Charl Le Roux in 1986 and moved to the USA in 1993. Together, they opened A Total Approach in September 2001. Maude is SIPT certified and specializes in Sensory Integration services as it applies to functional activities of daily living, including improving the ability of any child to partake in his/her learning environment. She also holds a certificate in DIR®/Floortime, and is a certified Cellfield Intervention provider. She is also a certified Tomatis Consultant and is registered with the International Association of Registered Certified Tomatis Consultants (IARCTC). Maude has recently been accepted to publish an article in Ricochet, the journal for the IARCTC, is presenting at the Tomatis international conference in Dublin in May 2009 and is also a member of the research committee. She is one of the national trainers in the US of the Tomatis based home program, Solisten. Maude is a certified Interactive Metronome Provider and also an Irlen Syndrome Diagnostician and is finding this specific work extremely gratifying. She has also participated in international speaking engagements with regards to the field of sensory integration and autism.
