We realize that there is not a TACA chapter within driving distance of every family affected by autism. To address this area of need, we will be:

  • Prior to June 2008 - TACA will be launching the free, "Virtual Meeting" where TACA members will be able to login, connect, watch educational speakers, ask questions and get the support they need.
  • Working with TACA "Our Friends" to direct families in need to their meeting local chapters.
  • A call for new TACA chapter applications is in place for 2009 roll out. If you are interested in opening a TACA Volunteer Chapter, have at least two years logged into the autism journey as well as dietary and biomedical experience, please contact our National Coordinator Leader Jen Lundy.

Over seven years ago TACA started in my living room with just 10 families. Today we serve somewhere close to 7,000 families. Never did I expect that TACA would grow into what it is today - sadly too many are affected by autism. As TACA grows, we will evaluate potential new chapters using the following elements:

  • Number of those affected with autism in a geographic area
  • Current support organizations with active meetings and support in the area
  • Volunteer coordinator who has fundraising connections, a commitment to work for families for free, and has a desire to help TACA families
  • Current TACA members underserved in the immediate area
  • And TACA's ability to absorb the costs and efforts of a new chapter

The goals of the TACA National Chapter expansion are simple: Provide the level of support currently offered in TACA California chapters.

Following Jenny McCarthy's initial media tour in September, I came to an important conclusion. That realization was sometimes you don't get to pick in life what you do – it picks you. Its impact is a lot like having children - albeit less of a challenge, amazing and life-changing event – TACA has helped shape me and drive what was needed to better serve our community.

We appreciate the new and existing TACA chapter coordinators and volunteers beyond words. Each of these amazing individuals volunteer their time and effort to help families help their children affected by autism. We are humbled by their participation to be part of the solution and grateful they are here to help. TACA could not deliver the programs and services we offer without their amazing dedication and assistance to the mission of serving families in need.

As TACA moves into our 8th year helping families affected by autism, we will continue to expand our reach and services to families. If you have questions or suggestions on what we need to consider – please let us know.

Like Jenny McCarthy has said in many of her presentations, the laws of attraction of people finding each other is an amazing process. Families in need looking for positive answers for their children are finding TACA all over the nation. We will continue to expand as fundraising dollars continue to rise to meet TACA's needs.

While we may not have all the answers as each child with autism is different. So is how it affects a family and the many dynamics there are within the day-to-day life and stress in the autism journey. Our goal is to help architect better outcomes for families and the many tremendous folks volunteering them through their crisis to reveal the best possible out come for their child – including recovery.

2. Government Concedes Vaccine-Autism Case in Federal Court - Now What?

David Kirby's Huffington Post article is an portant read. Please forward far and wide. Please post a comment if you have the time. This is about the first Omnibus/vaccine court that the case has conceded to the plaintiff - family won. It's a great read. I am so thankful that David continues to follow this important story.
