E-Newsletter August 2007 #1

Here is your update on TACA (Talk About Curing Autism). If you are new to our site... WELCOME! This newsletter is produced two to four times each month.

We are a California autism education and support group. We want to make this e-newsletter informative for you. As always, email your thoughts and/or questions so we can improve it.

We focus on parent information and support, parent mentoring, dietary intervention, the latest in medical research, special education law, reviews of the latest treatments, and many other topics relating to autism. Our main goal is to build our community so we can connect, share and support each other.

Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) provides general information of interest to the autism community. The information comes from a variety of sources and TACA does not independently verify any of it. The views expressed herein are not necessarily TACA’s.

JACK FM: STICK UP #11

First, 1,000 cars to drive-thru the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater parking lot this Saturday at noon and let a JACK FM Sticker Pimp sticker slap a sticker on their ride get a pair of lawn tickets to JACK'S SECOND SHOW and a limited edition JACK'S SECOND SHOW concert t-shirt. More info.

Can’t make the stick up? TICKETS FOR THE CONCERT ARE STILL AVAILABLE! Go to www.931jackfm.com for more details!

Jack's Second Show is giving TACA a truckload of support.

Literally. Jack FM filled the bed of a 2008 Nissan Titan with cheap sunglasses. All you have to do is guess how many cheap sunglasses it takes to fill up the Nissan Titan.

Join JACK at specified locations and drop a buck for the truck. Donate one dollar to Talk about Curing Autism, make your guess and whoever comes closest to guessing the total number of cheap sunglasses wins. The winning guess will be announced at Jack's Second Show on Saturday, August 18th at Verizon Amphitheater.

All donations benefit TACA; last year with your help JACK raised nearly $50,000 for TACA. Ante up for Autism, it could win you a truck.

7. TACA Volunteer Opportunities

TACA has grown so much over the past six years and our amazing volunteers help make TACA do what it does for families. Currently over 100 volunteers allow TACA to run and serve the almost 2300 families. Volunteer hours are crucial to our operations and so needed and appreciated.

It is our goal to make volunteer positions available to those in our community (family, friends, vendors, and sometimes our parents) as times permits in our busy schedules!

Please consider this options:

  • TACA 4th annual Family Picnic on September 30, 2007 in Irvine will need over 75 volunteers. We are looking for NON-TACA members to volunteer their time so our TACA MEMBERS can have a wonderful family day. Please contact Elizabeth to express your interest.

  • TACA Librarian for TACA Los Angeles and TACA Visalia:  Attend every TACA LA meeting, bring all loaner books to the meeting. Help families select books and obtain the materials back from the families. For more information please contact Julia (Los Angeles) or Lynne (Visalia).

Thank you for considering a volunteer position at TACA.

Special note of thanks to our JACK FM friends for adopting TACA for Jacks Second Show. There are a lot of great activities coming up to help spread autism awareness and raise funds for TACA’s efforts over the next few months. We are hoping to make a difference for all the Californian families affected by autism.
