  • June 28 - Author Christina Adams offers TACA members a look at her new book “ A Real Boy: A True Story of Autism, Early Intervention and Recovery” (Berkley/Penguin, May 2005). She discusses the struggles and joys of the recovery process, how her son passed a kindergarten-readiness test with no sign of autism detected, and how a new doctor refused to believe he’d ever been diagnosed.
    Christina Adams is the author of A Real Boy: A True Story of Autism, Early Intervention and Recovery (Berkley Books, May 2005) and a commentator for National Public Radio’s Day to Day. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Brain Child Magazine, Alligator Juniper, Kaleidoscope and Appalachian Heritage, among others. She hosts a show on the Autism One internet radio network.
    Medical publications she has edited include “The Cornerstone Method: IQ Rise Found in Treated PDD children” with author and psychiatrist Dr. Gilbert Kliman.
    Christina served as editor of The Pentagram (the newspaper of the Pentagon), and worked in communications and public relations for the federal government and aerospace and insurance industries. After she obtained a Master of Fine Arts (Creative Writing) degree in 2000, her son was diagnosed with autism. She assembled and ran a cutting-edge educational and biomedical treatment program for him, as described in A Real Boy. He is now in a regular school, has friends and tests above age level in speech and I.Q.

  • Sept. 27 - Chelation and alternative detoxification methods for ASD children Chelation is often a controversial but recommended treatment plan for ASD children who are tested as metals toxic. For as many reports which cite chelation as an alternative practice, Autism Research Institute (ARI) cites chelation to be by far the most recommended biomedical treatment protocol by thousands of parents surveyed this past year. Several recent studies have also outlined that many ASD children have a defect in removing toxic metals from their bodies and should consider treatments that help boost and enable detox. This presentation will review many of the commonly prescribed and natural chelation remedies available today. (This will include: DMPS, DMSA, ALA, Glutathione, and other over the counter supplements used today for chelation and detox.)
    Presented by: Dr. Kurt Woeller – Stillpoint Health www.biohealthcenters.com

3) Call To Action:

For June 9th, stop calls to the White House and call Congress!

All calls should now be going to Members of Congress to:

a) promote Congressman Weldon's bill HR # 881

b) Make sure they have located their magazine with all the ads that we dropped on Tuesday.

Information below.

June 8th - EOH Day was just fabulous!  David Kirby's book SKYROCKETED through the numbers at Amazon and Barnes and Noble to reach the top of the charts!.  Leslie Weed...GREAT JOB! Generation Rescue had a GIGANTIC spectacular ad comparing mercury and autism in the New York Times. Keep telling your co-workers, neighbors, family, etc to get a copy.  Keep it up.  No reason to stop now!  We got it past Oprah for goodness sake!

AMAZING job with calling the White House for the last two days.  We are getting reports that they are tired of answering the phone, that our giving out these numbers is inappropriate, that some people are getting through and having really decent conversations and that one lady had a stack a couple of inches thick in her lap of faxes from you all from just one fax machine.  GREAT JOB everyone!

After a conversation with the White House this morning we are asking that you hold calls to the White House numbers and flank Congress for today.  We asked the White House to get back with us by tomorrow morning and that we still want President Bush to issue an Executive Order banning the use of mercury in vaccines for children and pregnant women.

We will let you know when to let it rip again or if we get an answer this time.

JUNE 9th & 10th Send all your calls to Your Congressman and both Senators

Capitol Hill Operator: 202-224-3121

Ask for the Senior Health Staffer's name.

(Not an intern or junior staffer)

Get their fax numbers and fax them a letter to let them know your opinions about HR 881

and which ads you want to run in their district.

 HR 881 has been introduced by Rep. Dave Weldon (R-Fl) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).

Ask your congressperson to co-sponsor this bill and ask your Senators to introduce a companion bill in the Senate. HR 881 focuses on banning vaccines for children and pregnant women that contain more than 1 mcg of mercury. Some vaccines still contain 25 mcg of mercury. Currently the bill has 35 co-sponsors.

Check the list and if your member of Congress has signed on.

  If they have, thank them and leave them alone.

To review the bill and the list of co-sponsors http://thomas.loc.gov/  (Type in HR 881)

In our meeting on May 16th, the CDC estimated 20 Million children and pregnant women would receive flu
vaccines in the 2005-2006 season.
They have only ordered   6 - 8 Million mercury-free versions of the vaccine.

So approximately 12 - 14 Million children and pregnant women could receive doses of mercury
exceeding EPA safety limits for anyone under 500 pounds.

  How many children and fetuses weigh 500 pounds?

Find your Congressman at www.house.gov.

Find your Senator at www.senate.gov.

Points on HR 881 below.

Keep Pressing On Toward the Goal.

THANKS!  Unlocking Autism & NVIC

To review the bill:  http://thomas.loc.gov/Type in HR 881

In 1999 the Public Health Service and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended removal of thimerosal from child vaccines. Five years later, thimerosal (50% mercury) remains in childhood vaccines. Last year, the CDC recommended that children receive the flu vaccine without recommending that infants and pregnant women get only the mercury-free dose.

 ---The EPA found that 1-in-6 infants are born with a blood mercury level above the level considered safe by the EPA. Furthermore, the Food and Drug Administration and the EPA have warned pregnant women and young children to limit their consumption of certain fish in order to reduce mercury exposures.

The Legislation:

  • Requires that beginning with the 2006/07 flu season, the flu shots for children under age three and pregnant women may not contain more than 1 microgram (mcg) of mercury;
  • Requires that beginning with the 2007/08 flu season, the flu shots for children under age six and pregnant women may not contain more than 1mcg of mercury;
  • Requires by July 1, 2006, all other routinely administered childhood vaccines, may not contain more than 1mcg of mercury and on Jan 1, 2009, all pediatric, adolescent and adult vaccines that contain more than 1mcg of mercury are banned;
  • Expresses the Sense of the Congress that the CDC should incorporate into its vaccine promotion messages, a recommendation against administering a mercury-containing vaccine to pregnant women.

4) "Evidence of Harm" Book Drive Update
